Editors are a hard-hearted (but helpful) bunch

An easy way to remember your and you're (besides memorizing the possessive of you and the contraction of you are) is to learn to pronounce the two distinct words correctly when you speak.

You're is pronounced in two syllables like ewer  or yoo-er.
Your (possessive: your belongings) is pronounced like yore, which is also a word, meaning old or long ago.

Saying the words aloud several times will help you to memorize the sounds and you'll own the memory for the rest of your life. Try it now!

Pat Sajak, may I buy an apostrophe and the vowel E?
